Near IR Custom Wavelength LED

The Challenge

The customer needed a near infrared LED to use in a machine vision system for test and measurement. A surface mount LED was a must as they had migrated to entirely surface mount production but were having trouble finding adequate and uniform power output. The wavelength needed for the application was not readily available and power output was extremely critical.

The Solution

Lumex was able to offer the needed 750nm wavelength in a popular surface mount package. Power output was critical while the angle was not. Therefore, Lumex was able to assemble the chip into a lensed 1209 package and sort for a minimum output level, prior to packaging the parts on tape.

The Value Proposition

By relying on Lumex's ability to deliver custom LED chips in reliable packages, the customer was able to realize an attractive solution utilizing a non-standard wavelength without having to compromise performance.
